Surprise snowstorms, like the area experience in November, keep Scotty Holt and the Eastern Alpha office busy.
Scotty Holt knows some country roads. Alpha Mechanical Service’s Sales and Service representative covers a wide expanse of geography, with customers in eastern Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, and even parts of Virginia.
Alpha’s Dunbar, West Virginia office covers every square mile from Morgantown, W.Va. to Big Stone Gap, Va. (325 miles), and Snowshoe, W.Va. to Morehead, Ky. (300 miles).
Holt, headquartered in Ashland, Ky., said he drives up to 4,000 miles every month.
He helped launch the operation in 2007, along with Randy Barnett (W.Va. service manager). John Jennings (W. Va. sales representative) joined the team this year. Together, they keep 15 technicians busy full-time, working HVAC, Refrigeration, and Plumbing jobs for retail stores, judicial centers, and school systems.
Holt said the office’s sales had grown dramatically, with double-digit percentage growth in revenue every year.
That part of the country, known for its mountainous terrain and frequent snowstorms, requires Alpha to keep technicians on-call 24/7.
“We’ve grown every year, and we seem to be seeing more opportunities as we grow,” Holt said. “And in the last year, we’ve really emphasized service contracts, and it’s paying off.”
